4.2 Stand-alone installation
This section describes how to install TIS-Office (program and database) on a
single computer.
Follow these steps to install TIS-Office:
Condition
Depending on your current operating system settings you must have
administrator rights or have permission to install programs.
Important
Check whether databases from other applications are installed before installing
TIS-Office. For a detailed description please refer to Chapter 3.1 "Database
environment" from page 3-4.
If you have already worked with KISCAN, you must convert the databases
after installing TIS-Office; see also Chapter 5.5 "Upgrading-TIS-Office" on
page 5-12.

Office ToolBox User Guide.
Tip
Before installing the program you should check the database environment and
carry out the following procedures:
• clean the data carrier
• defragment the hard disk
• save a backup of your work files and hard disk
• set up a System Restore point.
1 Close all applications that are running, especially any active virus scanner
because this could cause problems when scanning the installation files.
Installing TIS-Office
2 Place the TIS-Office CD-ROM into the corresponding disk drive.
If you are installing the program on
• Windows Vista, the User Account Control dialogue box will open together
with a prompt asking whether you wish to continue the installation or not;
• any other Windows operating system, the installation program will start
automatically and the window where you can select the dialogue language
will be displayed.
If you have disabled the automatic start option on your computer, you can
start "setup.exe" directly from the product CD; see also Chapter 3.3
"Starting the installation program" from page 3-20.
